Gateway began life back in the 1980s selling low-cost computers, first by phone and mail and then later over the Internet and in brick-and-mortar stores. Acquired by Acer in 1997, Gateway continues to sell and manufacture computers. The E-series, first produced in the 2000s, featured such components as optional Zip drives, built-in networking and USB support. You can remove the front panel on an E-Series Gateway computer yourself with only a screwdriver.
1.Shut down the Gateway computer. Unplug the computer from the wall to prevent accidental shock.

Loosen the two large screws holding the right side of the computer case on the chassis (when looked at from the front of the Gateway). The screws are located at the rear of the machine. Turn the screws counter-clockwise.

Gently push backwards on the Gateway computer until the bottom of the case is about an inch in the air and the case is tipped back at about a 10-degree angle.

Slip your hand underneath the case and grasp the bottom of the front cover.
6.Pull the front cover back and towards you. It is also hinged at the top, so don't pull it off the chassis too quickly or you could damage the front cover.
Tip
- Depending on your E-Series model, you may not need to remove the side panel first before removing the front cover.
